I installed this kit on my first Roadliner with great results. It is a fantastic addition to the intake kit for two additional reasons beyond the obvious value of opening up the intake in the first place (IMHO): (1) the teardrop motiff looks beautiful against the engine and is far more symetric and consistent with the overall styling of the bike. I don't like the Harley-emmulation with the asymetric and fake intake/fake horn covers on the bike. It's not a Harley, so I don't think Yamaha needed to make it look like one in this context. (2) By eliminating the big, bulky (fake) covers from both sides of the engine, common sense tells me that airflow to the back cylinder must be greatly improved--hence helping the engine to run a bit cooler. (That is a constant challenge to an air-cooled V-Twin. . . how can you increase airflow to the rear cylinder. . . ?) By eliminating the airbox overhead and the big, bulky, fake covers on the side, there has got to be improvement in airflow to the back. You guys at Thunder care to test for this assumption? (I'm really curious!) (P.S. Had to sell my first Roadliner; planning to pick up a second one soon and I will plan to convert this bike as well!
